Guitar / Bass Instuctions

Over the years OD has produced many different instruments. They have a variety of script verions and features. Not all instruments have all features. To find out the specific features of your guitar, find your instrument's sales poster, click it, and select INFO.

The short version:

  1. Wear the guitar
  2. Wear the HUD. OD>> HUD Standard is the one that comes included in the guitar.
  3. Wear the RiffPod Sound Module if you want sounds. (to get one touch guitar for a menu then MORE.. then ACCESSORIES)
  4. Adjusting the guitar position is a bit different than adjusting hair.. or other attachments
  5. THERE IS A SHORCUT FOR ADJUSTING POSITIONS IF YOU OWN MULTIPLE GUITARS

ADJUSTING THE GUITAR POSITION

The guitar can be worn on from (playing position) or on your back (carrying position) Both positions are ajustable. It also has some features built into it for future HUD compatibility. For these reasons, adjusting the positions is a *teeny* but different than adjusting a normal attachment.

To Adjust the Front Position.

  1. Wear the guitar. It will move to the front in the "playing" posiiton
  2. Adjust the position normally. Right click the guitar and move it around as you would any other attachment
  3. TEACH the front postion. Click GUITAR UTIL on the HUD. (or touch the guitar) Click the TEACHFRONT button. This locks in the front position.
To Adjust the Back (carry) Position.
  1. Wear the guitar. Click GUITAR UTIL on the HUD. (or touch the guitar). Send it to your back by clicking BACK from the pull-down menu.
  2. Adjust the position normally
  3. Click GUITAR UTIL on the HUD. (or touch the guitar) Click the TEACHBACK button. This locks in the back position.
If you get things out of whack type /43 defaultpos in chat, the guitar will be reset to a default attach position. You may have to detach and re-attach for this to take effect.

Once you have the front and back postions of a guitar taught the HUD STANDARD will learn those positions and teach them to any v4.0 or later guitar.

  1. Wear the guitar that has been taught front and back.
  2. Click the LearnPos button on the HUD. The HUD will "learn" the position of the guitar front and back
  3. Wear another v4.0 or later guitar that needs the same position.
  4. Click the TeachPos button on the HUD. The HUD will "teach" the front and back positions to the guitar.

CHAT COMMANDS

There are some cool chat commands you can use with your guitar.

bling on
bling off
Turns ON and OFF bling. Most guitars have bling.
/43 defaultpos Brings the guitar to a usuable default position. Use this command if the guitar gets all out of whack when adjusting. You may have to detach and re-attach for this to take effect.
/43 fb Set the guitar to full-bright. (Not all guitars have this feature)
/43 nfb Set the guitar to no-full-bright. (Not all guitars have this feature)
/43 photodiagonal Makes the guitar stand dissapear even if the guitar is rezzed on the ground.

CUSTOMIZE FLOATING HEARTS

  1. Rez the Guitar on the ground
  2. Ask the guitar to allow you to drop items into inventory by typing /43 unlock
  3. Remove the existing texture by typing in chat .... /43 delhearts
  4. In your inventory, rename your chosen texture to ... "hearts"
  5. Right click and EDIT the guitar. Make sure you can see the CONTENTS tab (hit the MORE) button if you need to.
  6. Click on CONTENTS, now you can see the guts of the guitar :)
  7. Drop your "hearts" texture into the guitar's contents
  8. Take the guitar into inventory

CUSTOMIZE EXPLODE

  1. Rez the Guitar on the ground.
  2. Ask the guitar to allow you to drop items into inventory by typing /43 unlock
  3. Remove the existing texture by typing in chat .... /43 delexplode
  4. In your inventory, rename your chosen texture to ... "explode"
  5. Right click and EDIT the guitar. Make sure you can see the CONTENTS tab (hit the MORE) button if you need to.
  6. Click on CONTENTS, now you can see the guts of the guitar :)
  7. Drop your "explode" texture into the guitar's contents
  8. Take the guitar

CLEANUP THE GUITAR'S CONTENTS

If you end up with textures or sounds you don't want in the guitar.. you can type (in chat) /43 cleanup This removes all textures and soundfiles from the guitar. Then you can drop in clean copies of the hearts, explode, and soundfiles.
